Homemade Granola

La Brea Bakery has an amazing granola that comes in a tiny bag but costs $7! About a month ago, I checked out the ingredients and thought, um, I need to make my own. I don't know exactly what's in the La Brea Bakery version but mine is a hit at home and is SO GOOD. Also, very easy to make.

Ingredients
(this first group is to taste/approximate)
Sunflower seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Slivered or whole almonds
1 c. crushed bran flakes
1/2 c. wheat germ
1.2 c. unsweetened shredded coconut
1 c. rolled oats
1 c. dried cranberries
(you should stay close to the amounts for this second group of ingredients; I've taste-tested, this works)
1 tsp kosher salt
1/4 c. molasses
1/4 c. honey
1/4 c. maple syrup
1/8 c. vegetable oil
1/8 c. canola oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)

Prep
Preheat oven to 350. Mix first group of ingredients then pour over the second group of ingredients. Mix well. Spread mix over your silicone baking sheet on a large cookie sheet (if you don't have a silicone baking sheet, I bet you could use parchment paper). Bake until golden brown (20 minutes?), stirring occasionally. Keep a close eye on this as the granola can get a candied texture if overcooked. Allow it to cool completely on the pan and break up with your hands. Store in large freezer bag. Serve with yogurt, milk or plain. YUM!
